We had a lead and FAU shooting terrible. This IS NOT the game to play Brown significant minutes. Its 4 vs 5 with him in the game.

Then he puts in Cooper and Young in alongside him. THAT is the reason we spotted UAB a 22 point lead. Not even the 2008 team is good enough to overcome 22 down on the road at FAU this year.

He just never learns. I think Penny is a good coach in many facets of the game, but he uses his personnel worse than any coach in D1 history and its not even close

I hope you like Crow. You’ll have a plate full of it here soon.

I sure hope so! I would love to see us win the tourney and make a run

My point is Penny's patterns have hurt this team. The truth is we DID have a chance at an at large if we won today and won to the title game. We wouldn't be in this position if Penny managed the roster better from day 1. I'm always a fan and always hope we win, but we are beating ourselves. Missing the NCAA this year isn't a case of oh well, we did our best. The team didn't do its best and Penny cost us a few games with these decisions

RE: Sorry, but F*@k Penny
I can agree that subbing by feel hasn’t always worked for Penny. But the radio analyst pointed out that the humidity in the room was terrible and both teams would need lots of subs.
Outside of an unforced turnover it seems Jayden did ok. But the rest of the bench. Yuck.
Wonder if any of the Malco detractors missed having his big shoulders out there to do battle with Drago today.

RE: Sorry, but F*@k Penny
It is a catch 22. By playing an NBA style, we draw certain recruits. If those recruits are unable to win playing the NBA style, Penny can't change the style because then he loses recruits. If Penny wants to make a deep run in the tournament he has to put the players in positions to win ball games, play to their strengths and not to a style.

I agree that the thread title was unnecessary. This team has a lot more problems than to try and blame it all on Penny's coaching.

Agreed. Everyone is frustrated with this team but the title of this thread, at least to me, is abhorrent.

The likelihood is high that he won’t have to eat crow. In that scenario, will you come and give him props for his take?

Absolutely!

But Ill never be a negative fan especially towards a man that could be enjoying his retirement and living it up but instead wants to give us what we all want. I’ll always support Coach Hardaway and Memphis

Quitters never win and winners never quit but only a fool never quits.

At some point, you have to realize that is just ain't happening with Penny.

He can probably coach here as long as he wants to but - this is as good as it gets with him. He's hit his ceiling.

Consider me a fool. A lot of other people do living here rooting for this university but Ill never quit doing it.

I'm talking about thinking Penny is the answer and can get it done here.

Sure, continue to root for the school and it's athletic teams.

Thanks for explaining and I will. I meant my reply as believing Penny will get it done here. Not saying a Natty just doing all he can to make this fun maybe in couple weeks or maybe years to come

I think it’s time for us all to take a long look at what we want this program to be and what reality actually is.

RE: Sorry, but F*@k Penny
I will never not care about the Tigers. I still get excited on game days and enjoy the banter here - pro and con.

I really believed this year would be different and not the same wait-and-see proposition come March. But when the wheels come off with the Tigers, the whole car implodes. Injury, drama, whatever. They looked like legit national contenders one week to conference bottom-dwellers the next.

The narrative is the same every season and it does get frustrating. I'm not at the point of wanting Penny out, but the sameness is a pattern which doesn't feel like will change.

Tomlin and Jourdain both had only 1 foul in the first half. FAU is not a big team 1-4. If one of our two bigs needs a breather, the team will get by with a 4 guard lineup esp since Walton and Jones are big guards. Also playing Brown with Jaden, Cooper and Young at the same time is a recipe for disaster.

Because Brown played 10 mins in 1H my guy. That’s the point.

Brown should have played 0 mins my guy.
After the first 2 mins it was obvious dude didn’t have it…get him outta the game. If Penny can sub a starter out after 2 mins of game time, he can sub Brown out instead of riding him until the team’s momentum is completely reversed. The last shot Brown got blocked Tomlin gave him the look of what the hell kind of shot was that?

Not arguing he sucks. I’m arguing he was a warm body to give Tomlin/Jourdain rest and keep either of them from getting in foul trouble before halftime dealing with Drago. Had Tomlin/Jourdain had to guard him whole 1H then they prob would’ve been in foul trouble.
