You are absolutely correct.... "Mostly." We lived in Barkshire which is situated on the corner of Holmes and Ross. My mother and stepfather built a home there in the late eighties. It wasn't until 1992 that I moved there. With each passing year, there were less and less people of my color. When I bacame a target of reverse racism, we ran. I left behind a lot of friends that just so happened to be African American, but it was worth it to get away from the gangs, guns, and drugs at Kirby. My parents wanted out so bad that they moved before they even put the home on the market. It took one and a half years to sell that house and they still got less than what they had paid for it. Its a shame.
Sorry to hear about the reverse racism, some people don't realize that that does happen. Unfortunate. I grew up basically in the same area, (Near Ross but south of Holmes) my parents lived there from 91 to 04 when they moved out to Collierville. I never thought that pertion of Hickory Hill was ever really that bad, mostly a bunch of young (wanna be gansta) misguided kids, with hard working parents who had no idea what kind of image there kids were trying to portray. Now I will admit Kirby changed a lot from 91 to now. I graduated from Kirby in 97, at that time it was about 50-50 black to white (maybe 60-40). Most of the kids got along regardless of race, but by the time my cousin graduated in 01, it was a whole different school. I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that Kirby turned city in 2000 or so and the schools boundries changed. Sorry you guys had a bad experience, but most of the people in that area are good folk.

I know that there are nice people there, but it is not a place that anyone shoots for there when deciding where to move. That is, unless it would be a step up for them.

My oldest son graduated from Kirby in 1993 it was going downhill at that time. When Bolton and Kirby traded principals it was all downhill from there. I think there names were Carruthers and Boyd. and Kirby got Boyd.

Here we go again... they've distorted their past again.
Just a reminder Runts....
Race baiting is absolutely PATHETIC... especially given a town like Memphis' racial history.
That makes you look nothing but ignorant.
