More recent NIL developments
The NLRB ruled that Dartmouth basketball team are employees and can hold a vote to unionize.

Our very own Sen Marsha Blackburn is a co-sponsor with Sen Cory Booker on an NCAA accountability act in response to actions taken with UT over NIL investigation. Think she even knows we exist?

Enlightened response from Tulsa BB coach when reading a text exchange with with a recruit who wanted to know how much $ he would get if he came to Tulsa. Claimed he was getting $6k a month and 3 dogs and a girlfriend to take care of… Coach said we don’t talk about NIL amounts till we sit down and discuss an academic success plan but lose the the dogs and I don’t know about the girlfriend.

Marsha should STFU and focus on operations of the government instead of playing politics by protecting big money donors.

If congress does get involved, it should focus on reigning in the NIT.

You're going to end up with thousands of non revenue athlete lose their ability to attend college due to schools being forced to drop teams.

Too bad about the non revenue sports but it is what it is at this point. You can thank the Ed O’Bannon suit which was the catalyst for all this. I’ve always said just let everyone cheat. It’s just entertainment anyway

The Sh1t will hit the fan when women file a lawsuit for making nothing compared to the men.
I’m guessing the only way out is that the boosters or outside interests pay the NIL and not the schools but they’ll sue anyway.

More likely the anti trust suit having to do with college football and TV.

That opened the door to conference TV deals, the BCS and realignment.

That's when the courts started looking at the schools and the NCAA as two separate entities.

Before then college sports was looked at as a private club and the NCAA was a committee chosen by the members to control operation of the club.

It is a shame that these kids have no clue what they are actually getting themselves into. The government is perfectly fine allowing them to be employees... because... now the government will get tax revenue from the scholarships and all of the other benefits the school provides to these "employees" beyond what is provided to the normal student...

Marsha is owned by lobbies and big donors. You can draw a direct line from special interests to her bills and voting patterns. The Haslams are likely behind this bill of “hers”

Just call men "women" and soon real women won't have anything to complain about. Because they won't be involved anymore.

Also...
Unionizing means union fees. Unions are big time donors to the Biden Admin. The NLRB is appointed by Biden. Any surprise the NLRB is pushing to expand their revenue base?
