See Pookie, Nick, Iverson, Wilson, Woodson, McGee among others.
Take a close look at that list. I am a huge fan of Pookie, thought Iverson was going to be a great player eventually and I loved Nick King, but if I'm being completely objective, the way things turned out is probably better for the program from a talent standpoint, with all of the above leaving, with the possible exception of Iverson.
I guess if Pookie wasn't going to start ahead of Kedren; having Tarrant, then Martin and Broddie were going to be better options down the road. Iverson is disappointing, but most say that he was legitimately a problem regardless of who the coach was.
I don't think Wilson and Magee were going to be world beaters and Nick King would have struggled for time with the Lawsons and Burrell being in the fold. Nick King is another reason to be pissed at the timing with AN. Maybe if AN transfers right at the end of the season, King stays.

This is absolutely correct.
Note...the same who railed Tarik Black will likely defend this private school leave his team, school, and coach in the lurch late after the coach built the team around him.
What a spoiled baby. Turns out, it is a good thing he can play ball because seems as if he has to forge his own grown up identity out there, it will not happen...not an unpredictable result of being in a protective bubble.
Do not forget that he was the focus of our team last year, and was going to be the focus next year and the team was built around him and was likely going to be really good, and he would have been in position to play himself into the NBA. And in late June his daddy apparently got cold feet. Memphis is a certain kind of school...believe not the type of school daddy really wanted in the first place.
To the soon to be defenders and bashers of my ilk...should it come out that there was some specific justifiable reason for this...oops. Maybe a classy press conference like Black had would have addressed that...you think?
"Memphis is a certain kind of school...believe not the type of school daddy really wanted in the first place."
Exactly my thoughts.

There are some people where, if you find yourself agreeing with them, while it doesn't automatically mean you're wrong, you should nevertheless really start to second guess your position and how you arrived at it.

No reason to be unhappy in any way because our best player's dad waited until late June to send an email saying that AN was transferring. No reason to think that there is anything wrong whatsoever for dad to put out a statement disparaging the program.
Everything was handled perfectly by dad and AN. Any inference that it wasn't, qualifies at butthurt.
LMAO
The dysfunction in the program must be pretty amazing to necessitate such a change by Austin. I'm sure Austin and his father see the program going down in flames around him. If he stays, he is simply another casualty. Why stay?
When he wants to leave, he isn't released. Then apparently he's saddled with restrictions that weren't necessary, based on how swiftly we dropped them. Austin seems like he's doing the best thing, objectively.
If Shaq was two years younger, he'd be transferring. I'm not sure Crawford will be on the team next season. The roster is almost duct-taped together at this point.

Exactly, when people stop blaming 18-21 year old kids for the downfall of the program and fix the real issue.
Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Gonzaga, Kansas, etc also have 18-21 year old kids on their teams...they seem to be making it okay.

Then he should have done it in March. Since March we picked up Martin and Tarrant and have the Lawsons and Marshall coming in. Say whatever you want about last season (or seasons before), but we did take steps to be better than last year.

But they are also willing to run off any 18-21 year old knuckleheads. We've got that down pat, at least, it's the rest of the story that's missing.

Bingo. That is what good attorneys do. Court should always be a last resort. Those of us who spend a lot of time in divorce court know this.
