This isn't a bad loss. The team played great at times and made a few mistakes. This game will make us better if no one is hurt.

We were down 2 scores, Mizzou went to prevent and we got a token TD

They're no worse than most of the OldMrs and MisStake teams we've played.

On another note, I heard the MIZ-ZOU fans boo'd our band. Really? If so, very trashy.

At the end of the game, their TIGER mascot was conducting OUR band. I thought it was funny 04-jawdrop

Lost to Mizzou and yet we moved up 1 spot in the CBS Sports College Football Rankings. Interesting.

Show me where I complained in either of those posts? The truth is we were 2 scores down and scored what the gamblers call a “token TD”. I’m sorry if that hurts all your whittle fweelings. In reality that game means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Win the next two home games and we will be right where we should be.

I just don’t understand the drama regarding this loss. We lost to a better team but had a chance to win. The last TD wasn’t a “token”, we get a stop on defense (or recover the onside kick) and we get the ball back with a chance to tie (or win). Unfortunately, we couldn’t stop them, but it’s not like we didn’t have a chance. While Missouri might not be top tier SEC, they’re 4-0 and beat 15th ranked Kansas State.
It would have been a very good win, but we came up short. I get the concern with Silverfield, but just not with this particular loss. It wasn’t a terrible loss by any means. I’d like a new coach too, but that doesn’t seem likely. The next 2 games are huge. Go tigers!!

Mizzou ENTERED the top 25 (23 & 22) after beating us - not after beating #15 Kansas State. I'll take that as a sign of respect.

There is no drama on my part but I’m not gonna come on here and say it was an accomplishment either. And we aren’t getting a new coach. Like you I just want to win the next two games.

I would have thought the “let’s play SEC teams & be happy with close losses crowd” would be happier.

I was at the game, disappointed with final outcome, but proud of the way the team played as I think Mizou played a solid game with & with their advantage of a higher payroll than us, they appeared to have a few more play makers on offense, more beef up front, & more depth all the way around & we still made the plays to remain competitive. ….& make no mistake this was a home game for Mizzou, the whole in house game presentation was from Mizzou’s athletics office, from the starting the MIZ…….ZO.UUUU crowd chants every 1st down to everything else. It was absolutely not a neutral/bowl like game day presentation.

Silverfield’s job will be determined by how he contends in conference, not by a loss at Missouri.

Exactly, it was an away game (not neutral) loss to a SEC opponent. One that’s 4-0 and beat a top 15 team already this year. It’s not like we got run out of the building. Let’s see what happens Saturday. Silverfield has been mediocre at best and has more than his fair share of bad coaching, but I don’t think so this game. I’m always disappointed when we lose, but I’m just not so down about this one. We lost an “away” game to a better team. Let’s see what happens the rest of the way.

Silverfield is fine this year. Our schedule is terrible. We should go 9-3 easy. Three best remaining teams are Boise (60), Tulane (33) and SMU (48), and we have all 3 at home.

Using same CBS rankings, remainder are UAB (121), No Texas (108), USF (98), Charlotte (123) and Temple (125).

https://www.cbssports.com/college-footba...-rankings/

I think the thing to watch is home attendance next year. The home schedule is terrible - No Alabama, Troy, Middle TN, Tulsa, UAB, Charlotte and Temple. Oof. Just painful. Maybe someone can research back to the 50s or 60s to see a worse home schedule. https://fbschedules.com/2024-memphis-football-schedule/

I’m not sold on his ability to navigate this schedule & finish 8-4.

That being said, next years home schedule is pathetic & thats on Laird.

Yeah, maybe me saying 9-3 'easy' is a bit optimistic. Maybe a solid 50-50 chance at 9-3?

Re the schedule, to me the biggest loss of being passed over is not the lost media $'s or the exposure, it's the tanking of our home schedule. Our ticket sales and turnout is very dependent on quality of opponent.

This isn't a bad loss. The team played great at times and made a few mistakes. This game will make us better if no one is hurt.

The ONLY thing disappointing to me is that RS did not show that he has learned anything about play calling. Our run game in particular showed zero creativity against a bigger, faster team. But he did have the team ready, and we did play well in spots.

I dont think he calls the plays. I think OC does

While true, RS is still the one responsible.
