RE: kao
Kao was not the answer weeks ago when the original thread was made about him and he still is not today. You can fall in love with his athleticism all you want but it does not translate into on-court production. He is great for 5-10 minutes and maybe 12 max.

RE: kao
Kao has 60 points, 39 blocks, 38 rebounds, 4 assists and 9 turnovers in 251 minutes of play. Against Tulane he had didn't attempt a shot, had 0 assists and 4 rebounds in 13 minutes. Not sure how he is helping us.

On the advanced metrics he is dead last on the team in BPR (Bayesian Performance Rating). He's has the lowest OBPR (Offensive Bayesian Performance Rating), by far of any other player on the team. His DBPR (Defensive Bayesian Performance Rating) is lower than Chandler Lawson. Franklin has played less minutes and has 9 more rebounds than Kao.

He gives us some blocked shots and an alley-oop but has no other skills. Saying he should be playing more is just crazy. Honestly not sure why he is starting. Not to say that he can't be a good player some day but he's extremely raw.

If anything you could make a case to play Franklin more and go with a smaller lineup.

Bingo. If Penny had cut ten minutes from Kao and given it to C. Lawson, it might have given us enough extra scoring and rebounding to win the game.

Tulane has a very solid team. And the Tigers are without two (Dandridge and Lomax) of their six most important players. So this loss is not surprising.

I feel sorry for people who can't see that in spite of playing more minutes, Kao didn't earn additional playing time. In fact one could argue that if Kao didn't play at all, we win the game.

Yea and they would be stupid. The starting lineup extended or kept the lead in both halves before being pulled permanently. Instead Penny went with a lineup that had proven it couldn't get over the hump (just like UCF twice) and we lost yet again because somehow Jayden and Jonathan were a better lineup than two starters.

Yep, stats & metrics can be quoted over & over but the fact is we were winning with the starting lineup on the floor - and we lost with Jaden & JL on the floor.

RE: kao
Chandler and Deandre played very well at the 5 yesterday - other than Deandre giving up the late cut basket on D.
A lack of Kao had nothing to do with us losing yesterday.

I agree with this. A lack of Kao helped us to generate more points, snag more rebounds, and deny more shots. It's pretty simple. Having even less of Kao might have helped to win the game.

Some of you guys have low standards. Either that or excuses somehow make you feel better. Tulane is a fine team, but not one we should lose to at home (even without A Lo and MD). We had more TOs Saturday than probably any other game this season and our FT shooting was abysmal. The poor shooting from the line was especially abnormal for KD. The turnovers were partly due to Tulane’s tough defense, but many were due to lazy or out of control passes.

And I’m not saying the refs played no part. They did, but we still would have won by 10 with more focus/composure.

RE: kao
Kao does not have basketball instincts. He's tall and he can jump and that's it.

He might deserve more playing time, but a lot of the substitutions are just as much for defensive reasons as offense. They had two guys eating us up and we couldn't stop them.

I agree that we should have won the game, but that's a bit unfair don't you think? The FT shooting was horrible. I won't disagree there, but many of those turnovers that weren't the result of bad passes were actually fouls that should have been called against Tulane with all of the hacking and swatting that was going on. You're also not considering the flagrant assessed against McCadden when it looked like he was the one that was hooked, and the lack of a flagrant call that should have been assessed against Tulane later in the game. When you're talking about one point, everything matters. Should we have won by ten, sure, but it's difficult to gain traction and maintain composure when it's not a fair match due to lopsided officiating.

Complaining about lopsided officiating when the foul disparity was 22-15 in our favor is nothing less than a poor excuse. Overcome adversity, stop making excuses and do the simple things well. It's very simple, the excuse making is nauseating, just like sorting through your 100+ posts a day. It was a bad loss, we blew it, the officials did not. Move on.

It doesn't matter how many fouls they have called against them. Lopsided doesn't mean foul count in this context, Einstein. It means they were allowed to get away with more than Memphis. You need your prescription checked if you think the level of contact allowed was the same for both teams. Furthermore, on more than one occasion, the replay video clearly showed that the officials chose to ignore actual events to reward Tulane.

I'm not the one who is 60+ years old with multiple accounts and needs to get their eyes checked. They fouled us 22 times, we fouled them 15 times, by basic math that means they were called for 7 more fouls than us. The hook & hold was not blatantly obvious on them, McCadden got caught and it was a horrible foul, on us. It was reviewed and determined it was a foul, on us, not a judgement call.

It was not a flagrant foul on Deandre on the breakaway and it was not a flagrant foul on Kendric when he flopped. Those are common fouls, granted, that call on Deandre could sway the other way based on officiating crews. Both were reviewed and you move on. You MAKE the free throws to penalize them for the fouls while in the bonus. We're a senior laden team, it's time to start acting like it.

Officials did not make us miss said FT's, officials did not make us pass the ball like a middle school team at times, officials did not make us get lost on defense at the most pivotal time of the game and they did not make us lose the game. We did those things, not the zebras. Stop with the whining, we lost, it was our fault and we are in a tough position because of it. Hopefully we respond well to even more self-inflicted adversity.

Reading comprehension continues to be a weak point I see, and the accusation is cute but also wrong. I cut the rest of your nonsense because it's clear you didn't watch the game if you think the officiating was even remotely fair.

Reading comprehension continues to be a weak point I see, and the accusation is cute but also wrong. I cut the rest of your nonsense because it's clear you didn't watch the game if you think the officiating was even remotely fair.

I can tell you never actually got the opportunity to overcome adversity on a court or field of any kind growing up. All of your posts contain a lot of "I" told you so while trying to denigrate others.
