In looking at your message board, I did see one similarity. Your fans mentioned that Applewhite is horrible with in-game adjustments, and that you often lose momentum throughout the game (like last night). Porter was the worst at this. We'd come out and get a quick lead, then instantly lose it (and have no idea how to stop the bleeding).

Applewhite might be a bad hire, but he has already won more games than Porter did in 2 years.

Suspicious when his introductory press conference was awful. Knew for sure when we lined up in a illegal formation 2 to 3 times in the first drive against Miss St year 2 and the staff had no idea why we were getting penalized.

I've got no use for the guy after he iced Patterson three times in a row like a complete douche.

But taking that out of the equation...I can see how Houston fans would be nervous about him.

I knew he was awful when he couldn’t complete an actual sentence, he was seriously one of the dumbest people I have ever met.

Actually the better analogy is Applewhite to our previous MBB coach, J. Pastner. Pastner took over a high flying program, recruited well but never learned to game coach & failed to make good adjustments in-game. But the one glaring bad decision last night was the decision to punt at 4th & 1 late. I understand the logic but given Memphis had only stopped UH once in a running situation in that drive (the previous play), I'd have rolled the dice & gone for it on 4th & 1 (& obviously UH wasn't stopping Memphis either). But easy to say now after the fact, Applewhite would love to have that decision back too.
