So if it's not a rivalry, then explain this
First off, let me say that I received my acceptance letter from the University of Memphis Graduate School for this fall, which means that I get to leave the "Velvet Ditch" that is Oxford, Mississippi, in about a week.
As some of you may know, I run a restaurant just off of the Square here in Oxford. Last night I was waiting on a guest from Gulfport, and he did something that I really couldn't believe. I have a "Leaping Tiger" logo decal on my server book, to serve as a kind of jab at the fans down here. All of my regulars from Oxford, and most of them from Jackson know that I am a huge Tigers fan, and when they comment on my sticker, they do so in a joking manner. I've waited on Mike Bianco, who was very complimentary of the Memphis baseball team, and I just waited on Andy Kennedy, and we talked a little bit about Memphis and the job that Cal is doing. I've even waited on Orgeron himself the day after he was hired, and he was even joking around with me and the rest of the table. But this guy last night, asked me about it, I told him that I had to represent "my" team down here, and I thought that was it. He actually called my boss over to the table, made him sit down, and explain to him that he would have tipped me more if not for my sticker. My service was great, but he couldn't believe that I was allowed to display that sticker in this town. Of course, like most restaurant patrons who are afraid to tell the server that they are unhappy, he decided to "tattle" on me to my boss, who told the man that I was a huge Memphis fan, and he didn't really see how that should upset anyone. Now, like I said, this guy was from the coast, so how is this not a rivalry? I honestly couldn't believe this ******* had the audacity and immaturity to say this. Unbelievable.
