Final decision boiled down to ONE thing
Per my sources for Cal: competition. Why leave a cherry-picker where you get to "play" the likes of:

UAB 12 2 24 7
UTEP 11 3 21 10
Houston 9 5 21 10
UCF 7 7 14 15
Tulsa 6 8 11 17
Rice 6 8 12 16
Tulane 6 8 12 17
Marshall 5 9 12 16

2 tournament teams, in exchange for coming to Tobacco Road, where everynight is a dogfight? Granted, the epic battles that I am sure will ensue between the Tigers and RICE will be one of the ages, but being the big fish in a small pond feels good to some.

I saw you play twice in Dallas. I understand why you want a new coach. It would also help to have a little talent to go along with that coach. Great crowd you brought! Did they all come in the same car?
