If there was a team meeting and Cal and the staff are headed to Raleigh it would probably be too late to fire his ass. Can you fire somebody who has quit?

b, I agree with you.

If Cal and staff leave to "check out the facilities" at NC State, then in my opinion, he has stabbed us in the face.

Lock the doors to his office and don't let him back on campus.

This is beyond ridiculous.

We could probably plead insubordination or something that would tie any buyout up in the courts for years. If he does go or is there now and then returns I doubt I could even believe the 75% of the things he says like I do now.

I'm sure that Smith, Rose, et al have better lawyers than HonestJohn. He has damaged the program. I'm sure that there are monetary damages to be recovered.

What's the buyout on his contract? Wouldn't you void that by firing him?

High quality coaches will line up the day the Memphis job opens up and offers a $1 million+ contract..... if he is interested enough to take his staff over there and roam the campus and think seriously about this, then it may be time to move on. I love the guy, but it wouldn't be the end of the world and if he gets a huge raise I don't blame him. Life will go on, and we will get a great coach to replace him if necessary.

Why bother? Just let him quit. If he leaves he has to pay. I'm sure it's not a huge amount like the $10,000 that UTK had to pay to cancel the football game but I'm sure we could use the money to buy a couple of basketballs.

For some reason, I've always liked Cal's ego and arrogance, even though I
detest those same traits in others. I've even been quite amused by it, when
it was directed at Louisville or the SEC. When it's directed toward us though,
all bets are off. He is not beyond reproach. ( I keep seeing that damn 'New
King of Memphis" pic from the article a few weeks ago in my head. )

He gets on the plane and I will lose ALL respect for the man.

In retrospect this post and the follow up replies seem childish. The university and its programs are a passion for us because of our love for the Memphis and the school - for our coaches it is largely a business. As if no one on this board has ever interviewed for jobs while still employed.

So, my opinion in another thread was " F Cal for taking this so far with Fowler". You attacked my IQ.
Now, look at the song you are singing. Do you have a split personality?
