Weaver and Mulvagh were around in the late 1990s.

Then how about asking about the latino players or asian players or middle eastern players?

Was Mulvagh white? I always thought he was an "other".

He doesn't care about the others, Nashville (and we did have Ivan Lopez), all he cares about are the "real white guys."

no, what you are implying is that white players are model kids that don't cause trouble.

I'm just saying there is a place on our team for a 6'10" Midwestern white farm boy. Just about every team that has won a national championship in the last 20 years has had one.

I understand this subject is taboo, but I was hoping for a frank and honest discussion about this. Guess not.

Calipari is a remarkable recruiter of young African-American men, but cannot seem to be able to recruit any good white players, and this limits us. Especially when it comes to big men.

This is just a response to the "white player" question that was deleted. In the world there are a lot of things that are not diverse. There are some jobs, organizations and in some cases both local and national governments. The real question lies in what's diverse to you may not be diverse to everyone. I believe that one member wrote that the B-ball team is diverse. He went on to mention the different nationalities. That's an example of his opinion of being diverse. Another member wrote that it's about putting the best players on the court. And the team being all black didn't bother him. Could it be that there are no white players that Cal wanted? How about Latino? How about Russian or Austalian? I do believe that he's smart enough to pick who's best for his system.

I'm not even a Memphis fan. But, I'm a Memphian. Born an raised in south Memphis. I've watched this program go from a mediocre program in the late seventies to a national power in the eighties to only repeat the late seventies in the late nineties for numerous reasons. My hope is that Memphis continues to move towards excellence and not let race, ethnic background or any other obstacle hold them back.

Everyone who does not believe a white player would help this team is stupid, for the image of the team alone it would help. It always helps, middle aged white men don't have a whole lot in common with someone like Banks. And middle aged white men pony up the big bucks for our program and are the ones staying away in droves!
